Best of the East - ISPA 2006 Thailand Asia Pacific Conference
and Exhibition)，「泰SPA」的國際知名度及作為全球SPA界龍頭腳色的地位， 應是不容置疑。
時下到泰國的觀光項目中加上SPA的行程安排，也成為最熱門的旅遊方式，所以到泰國一定要好好享受「泰SPA」嘍！
在泰國SPA協會副會長，也是國際SPA界知名人物的安德魯．賈格(Andrew Jacka)先生的帶引下，來到曼谷市中心一處十分古典幽靜的SPA，名叫The
Baan Thai Wellness Retreat。Baan在泰文中是房子的意思，這兒就是昔日著名的「曼谷泰國之家」餐廳的舊址，可以邊欣賞泰國傳統舞蹈表演邊用餐，各國皇室領袖、美食老饕以及各界名人都曾前來，
中庭餐廳的牆上還掛著當年老虎伍茲(Tiger
Woods)拜訪的懷舊照片。
從大街拐進巷子，踏入泰國之家(The
Baan Thai)古董的門扉，你會宛如踏入時光隧道一般，這兒曾經是泰皇拉瑪四世皇孫彭西布拉瑪(M.R.
Bongsebrahama)一家的貴族宅第，有著少見的古典泰式房屋建築的優雅與氣質，加上庭院深深、綠林蓊鬱，彷彿來到世外桃源，不知一己還置身在曼谷的市區…
我們所聽到的泰皇拉瑪四世，就是好萊塢史詩巨片《安娜與國王》中由名港星周潤發所主演的那位國王，也是電影經典名片「國王與我」（The
King and I，1956）中，由好萊塢光頭明星尤勃連納（ Yul Brynner）所飾演的那位英氣煥發、雙眼炯炯有神的暹邏國王
！拉瑪四世（Mongkut
1851-1868）是泰國歷史上第1位接受西方學術思想的國君，精佛學、重科學、知識淵博，通曉拉丁文、英語等，並且也是泰國皇室第1個準許平民可以親近的國王，也因為他深知教育的重要性，才能培育出泰國歷史上最著名的拉瑪五世朱拉隆功（Chulalongkorn）大帝。
也許是因為受到皇爺爺拉瑪四世的影響，建築的格式是傳統的泰國木造中略帶著西方設計的理念。房子並未隨著時光的流逝而稍減韻味，反而那個性化的
檜木古典傢俱，經過細心的擦拭與觸摸，更增添幾分光澤與懷古的魅力。目前經過SPA專家的設計後，昔日的貴族宅第、庭園餐廳，變身為綠意盎然、蟲聲鳥鳴、蝴蝶飛舞、寧諡安祥，頗具禪意的SPA休閒渡假中心。新命名為The
Baan Thai Wellness
Retreat，或許可以翻成「泰國之家SPA行館」，是精緻的小而美飯店，一共有21間客房，其中也設計可以直接在房內做SPA的
特別套房，另外有獨立的8個芳療按摩套房，則對外開放，使這兒可以兼具都會型Day
SPA以及休閒式Resort

species, the traditional Thai Teak Home has been disappearing
from the streets of Bangkok to be replaced by concrete houses
and apartment buildings. The Baan (pronounced ‘barn’, means
house or home) Thai has remained a well-kept secret, hidden
away down a quiet side street off Sukhumvit Road. Just like an
oasis of calm, emanating history that has slowly evolved since
it was built by one of King Rama IV’s grandsons, M.R.
Bongsebrahama well over 60 years ago.
The Baan Thai is a
true oasis in the hub of Bangkok where you can experience the

Thai teak architecture. Some of the decorative features date
back over 200 years, but while most are more recent, all are

in the story of Baan Thai is the renovation of all of the
original buildings plus the addition of several teak wood
houses from Ayudhya, the ancient capital of Siam, to form this
luxurious culturally retreat – The Baan Thai Wellness Retreat.
The new Baan Thai
consists of five separate genuine Thai teak
homes some dating back over three quarters of a century,
lovingly restored and refurbished to show-case a way of life
the few have ever been able to experience nowadays, form the
basis of this luxurious wellness retreat, by renown cultural
interior design expert ML Sudavadee Kriangkrai. Re-furbished
with sensitivity, the house are now equipped with modern
luxuries such as delightful bathrooms (some even with their
own private spa therapy rooms), and air-conditioning, yet each
room retains the traditional Thai ambiance often lost in
contemporary design. Beautifully appointed living rooms and
bedrooms are decorated with teakwood furniture and Thai silks
in keeping with the traditional surroundings. Other welcome
modern additions to this serene setting are the private and
shared swimming pools set amongst the tropical gardens, and
the 8 therapy room spa, designed to maximize the most of the
architectural elements of the traditional houses, while being
flexible enough to be able to offer the very best of Thai and

クラシックな扉を開けると、今までの街の喧騒がうそのように、ここだけひっそりとした静寂につつまれているタイ古典スタイルな屋敷に、かつてM.R.
Bongsebrahamaというタイのラマ４世モンクット王の孫が暮らしていた貴族の家でした。
（ラマ４世モンクット王は、アメリカ映画の「王様と私」のモデル（ﾕｰﾙﾌﾞﾘﾝﾅｰ）になった人物で、英国人女性教師を迎えて多くの王子達に、ヨーロッパの影響を与え、ラマ５世チュラロンコーン王を、タイ近代化の父に育てた。）
